Watch

The whole app, in ninety seconds.

Both ledgers, a payment read straight off a receipt, Sharky reacting to what actually happened, and the lessons on Philippine lending law. Narrated, and captioned for anywhere you cannot turn the sound on.

Money going out

Loans you are paying

Add the principal, the provider and the cadence. The whole schedule is generated, every installment gets a reminder, and the total says what you borrowed and how long it runs.

Money coming back

Utang owed to you

Write down who borrowed, what they promised and when. Record what comes back, send a nudge that stays polite, and keep a record you can show without an argument.

Owed to you

₱305,655.88

3 people · ₱32,358.56 past due · since Jun 12, 2025

Four screens. That is the whole app.

No dashboard to configure, no onboarding to sit through. These are real captures, with the names blurred out.

The feed, on open

Everything it does, it does on the phone.

Works with the data off

The whole ledger lives in a database on your phone. No account, no sign-in, no waiting on a server.

Read the list off a photo

Point the camera at a printed loan list and it comes back as rows you can check, not typing you have to do.

One encrypted backup file

Export everything into a single file locked with your passphrase, and put it wherever you keep things. Nothing is uploaded for you.

Reminders before the deduction

Every installment gets scheduled when you add the loan, so the date arrives before the payslip does.

Sharky keeps the score

A feed that marks the payment you made, not the amount you owe. It never comments on how deep you are in.

There is no server. There is nothing to leak.

No account, no email, no phone number. The app asks for the camera and for notifications, and nothing else.

Payments are written to a ledger the app itself cannot edit or delete, so the history you see is the history that happened.

Backups are encrypted with your passphrase before they leave the app, and you pick where the file goes.

Learn

It is called LoanShark. It should tell you what one is.

16 short reads built into the app, 43 minutes end to end. Every legal claim names the law it comes from, no lender is named, nothing is recommended to you, and each one finishes with something you can do today.

What a loan shark is

The name of this app, and how to recognise the real thing.

After the debt

The habits that keep you from needing the next loan.

  • The small buffer comes first

Even a tiny fund is what stops the next loan.

    3 min

50/30/20 fitted to how you are actually paid.

Good debt, bad debt

Debt isn't the enemy — the rate and the reason are.

    3 min

Same word, two very different arithmetic problems.

  • Why the same peso amount can cost 3x more

    3 min

Compounding, and why a small-sounding rate rarely is.

  • The trap in the minimum payment

    3 min

Revolving credit turns good access into bad debt through one number.

  • Which debt to keep, and which to kill first

    2 min

Not all debt deserves the same urgency.

Sharky is not licensed to give legal or financial advice, and the lessons say so out loud. They explain how the mechanisms work and what your options are. The choice stays yours.

Questions people ask

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Every loan, payment and person who owes you is stored in a database on your phone. There is no account to make and no server to sign in to. The one exception is the community board, which is a public forum and says so before it opens.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes, all of it. Adding loans, recording payments, reminders, the feed and reading a list off a photo all run on the phone. Only the community board needs a connection.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Export a backup before that happens. It is a single encrypted file you choose where to put, and restoring it on a new phone brings everything back. Receipt photos are not included, so cards restore without their image.

Is it free?

The free tier tracks three loans and three people who owe you, which covers most people. Sharky+ lifts both limits and unlocks backup and reading a whole list off a photo.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. LoanShark is Android only today, and iOS is the next thing being built. Everything lives on the phone rather than on a server, so there is nothing to sign into from another device in the meantime.
